2) Refrain from sins: Hazrat Qataadah (may ALLAH be pleased with him) said, “Wrongdoing during the sacred months is more serious and incurs a greater burden of sin than in other months.” Therefore, we must be extra cautious to save ourselves from sins. th 3) Fasting on 10 Muharram (Day of Aashura): (may ALLAH be pleased with him) (Peace be upon Him) Hazrat Ibn Abbas reported: The Prophet came to Madinah and saw the Jews fasting on the day of 'Aashura'. He said, “What is this?” They said, “This is a good day and the day when Allah saved Bani Israel from their enemy (Peace be upon him) (Firaun) and (Prophet) Moosa (Peace fasted on this day.” Prophet Muhammad (Peace be be upon him) said, “We are closer to Moosa upon him) than you.” So the Prophet fasted on this day and commanded the people to fast. 4
