Ramadan Mubarak

Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam. It refers to the spiritual activity wherein one practices refraining from the consumption of food, water or any other liquid, during the hours of daylight, i.e. from dawn until sunset. It also includes refraining oneself from ill habits like smoking, backbiting and foul language amongst others. Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) said: “Whoever does not give up evil and ignorant speech and actions in accordance with that, ALLAH has no need of his giving up food and drink.” What is Roza (Fast/Saum)? He has also said: When anyone of you is observing fast, he should avoid raising his voice in anger; and if anyone insults him or tries to quarrel with him, he should say, “I am fasting.” The aim of fasting is to abstain from all bad behaviour and increase good deeds.
